Srinagar- Salute 72—A Non-Government Organization (NGO) organized a blood donation camp on Saturday at Zadibal where the main Muharram procession was carried out on the eve of Ashoora—the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala.
A total of 400 blood points were collected throughout the day at the camp, which was organized in collaboration with Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) here.
Abid Hussain Dar, one of the members of Salute 72, said that the NGO has been named after the 72 Karbala martyrs.
“We have been organizing the blood domination camp with an aim to save the precious lives,” he said, adding that 400 points of blood have been collected till the evening at the camp.
Dr Sahil Hassan from SKIMS, Soura, thanked the NGO for inviting them on the occasion of Ashoora.
“Every blood donor is a life saver and it brings self satisfaction to the donor as he provides a life saving component to the people in need. Besides, the regular donor’s health becomes good as well,” he said
