Srinagar- The residents of Bagh locality in Bandipora, North Kashmir, were shocked after the body of a 26-year-old youth was found under the Gamroo-Gundkaiser bridge near a rivulet on Thursday morning.
The discovery of the body has raised suspicions of foul play as the victim’s clothes showed visible signs of injury and bloodstains.
An official said that the deceased has been identified as Junaid Baba, son of Tariq Ahmad Baba, a resident of Bagh locality of the district.
“Local police swiftly responded to the incident and took possession of the body, which was then transferred to the District Hospital for further examination,” he said.
During the post-mortem examination, doctors verified the doubts surrounding the case, as they discovered blackish spots on his face and torso.
One of the doctors who conducted the autopsy, conclusively ruled out drowning as the cause of Junaid’s death. “The circumstances surrounding his untimely demise are now being regarded as suspicious,” he said. “
“The body was handed over to the family for last rites after medico-legal formalities.”
Meanwhile, a police official said that inquest proceedings under section 174/CrPC have been initiated—(KNO)
