Srinagar- Twelve couples from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday tied the knot in a mass marriage function here organized by an NGO ‘Peace and Friendship Foundation JK’.
The chairman of NGO, Ashiq Husain said, “today we have arranged a marriage function at our branch office located near Saidakadal Srinagar where we successfully tied the knot of twelve couples who hailed from various parts of the valley.”
All the families were very much deserving and it took us an amount of approximately 7 lakh rupees to arrange the mass marriage function, he said.
Ashiq said their NGO is a non-profitable and non-funded organization and they arranged the money by issuing different fundraisers on social media. “We also got help from friends and others for it,” he said.
The Nikah ceremony was carried out by Moulana Hakeem Sajad who was accompanied by Moulana Nazir Ahmad, he added.
