Srinagar– Non-government organisations ‘CAUSE’ and Kashmir Education Initiative(KEI) organized a one-day drug de-addiction and career counselling program in Tral, Pulwama on Saturday.
The event was organized in collaboration with Government Degree College, Tral. The event was attended by several dignitaries from the valley. Around 200 students from the college attended and benefitted from the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajid Yehaya Naqash, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tral, while appreciating the initiative highlighted the need for such programmes in current times when Drug addiction in the valley is reaching sky-high.
” Such events where the emphasis is laid on the burning menace called drug abuse need of the hour,” said Sajid Naqash. He further Lauded KEI for throwing light on better career opportunities for students in colleges and universities across the country.
Dr Sajid Mohammad, a renowned consultant psychiatrist, also talked about the growing drug abuse menace in the valley. He stressed that people should know that substance abuse can direly ruin the lives of the people who fall into its trap.
Khursheed Islam, Professor IMPA, and one of the founding members of KEI, while interacting with the students gave a brief introduction about his organization and gave thorough information about several career options a student embark on to get plum job opportunities in future.
Tajamul Hussain, President Kei, also gave a presentation about several courses in several top-notch institutes in India and explained How studying there would benefit the students in their careers.
