Srinagar- Two youth from Habbakadal area of Srinagar have been arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping and then raping a 13-years old minor girl in Kangan hamlet of Central Ganderbal district.
The accused duo, police said was arrested on the basis of the statement recorded by the victim, alleging that the accused kidnapped her from Srinagar and took her to Kangan hamlet of Central Ganderbal, before being raped.
A police official while confirming the incident said the accused were arrested hours after the family of the minor girl lodged a missing report at police station Maisuma.
Investigations, officials said, were started as soon as the missing report was filed by a family from Maisuma area of Srinagar.
He said the victim was traced the same day and a formal case FIR No. 11 of 2023 under IPC sections 363, 376 and 5,6 of POSCO Act was registered at the concerned police station in this regard and investigations taken up. The accused, he said, were arrested on Wednesday evening and are presently lodged at Maisuma police station.
Accused duo has been identified as Sahil Javid son of Javid Sodagar of Ganpatyar Habbakadal and Sahil Yousuf son of Mohammad Yousuf Dar of Nai Sadak Habbakadal.
Srinagar police in a tweet also confirmed that two persons from Srinagar have been arrested for kidnapping and then raping a minor girl in Ganderbal district.
“Two accused namely: 1 Sahil Javid S/o Javid Sodagar R/o Ganpatyar Habakadal and Sahil Yousuf S/o Yousuf Dar R/o Nai Sadak Habakadal arrested for abducting & raping a minor girl (13 yrs) of Maisuma. FIR no 11/2023 u/s 363, 376 DA of IPC & sec 5,6 of POSCO act at Maisuma PS,” Srinagar police tweeted on Wednesday.
