Srinagar: The State Investigation Unit (SIU) of police on Thursday attached house of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, as part of its ongoing crackdown against militants and their supporters.
SIU Shopian under the close supervision of DIG SIU Kashmir, SSP Shopian, DySP CIO SIU Shopian attached the residential house of a militant associate in Subhanpura Bijbehara area of Anantnag district, after obtaining necessary sanctions from competent authority, a police spokesperson said.
He said during the course of investigation in case FIR No. 22/2022 of Police Station Zainpora Shopian, under UA(P) Act, house of Abdul Rehman Ganai , father of militant associate Zubair Ahmad Ganai has been found used by militants of proscribed militant outfit LeT.
“Accordingly, the process for attachment of property belonging to the above accused falling within the ambit proceeds of militancy was initiated by SIU Shopian under section 25 of UA(P) Act,” he said.
The spokesperson advised people to not harbour or provide shelter or extend logistics to militants and their associates in their houses or premises.
