Srinagar- In a bone chilling incident, a man in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir axed his relative to death and livestreamed the brutal murder on Facebook, with outraged netizens calling for death sentence for the accused via a fast-track court.
The accused, Bharov Singh (31), was arrested from the forested Gandoh area within four hours of the murder, a police official said.
Bharov attacked Ram Singh with an axe in Gandoh area Friday evening, killing him on-the-spot, the official said, adding a woman Anju Devi (42) was also left injured.
Bharov was livestreaming the ghastly murder on Facebook, with no remorse visible on his face. The netizens who have watched the short clip of the brutal murder, have demanded capital punishment for the accused.
Before attacking the victim with an axe, Bharov is seen having a bitter argument with the sexagenarian in the presence of his daughter and granddaughter. Bharov later attacks Ram with the axe and runs from the spot
“I told him and Sarpanch many times to return my stones…My stones have been used to construct your house…I asked Panchayat, tehsildar and others but no one helped me. Bhairo Singh will also kill himself,” the accused said on Facebook Live while showing an axe.
Meanwhile, Bharov was arrested by police four hours after he committed the heinous crime in broad daylight.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and intercepted the accused in the higher reaches of the forest area. While being arrested, the accused also injured himself with the weapon of offence, a police official said.
The official said prima facie the incident seems to have happened on some old family disputes between two groups.
“Initially, there were some heated arguments over stones extraction which later led to the incident of murderous attack,” the official said, adding further investigation is on. (With PTI inputs)
