KHANABAL- International arm wrestler and athlete Joby Matthew participated in a captivating event on Monday at Higher Secondary School Khanabal.
The event was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Anantnag in collaboration with Social Welfare Department, HSS Khanabal.
Matthew was given a rousing welcome by the organisers and participants. He also inaugurated a Volleyball Tournament for U-17 Boys at the volleyball ground of the institution.
Joby Matthew interacted with the players and also administered pledge to participating players against drug abuse. The event was aimed to bring together athletes, sports enthusiasts, and community members to rally against drug abuse and promote a healthier lifestyle.
Matthew actively engaged with participants and attendees, sharing his personal journey and emphasizing the significance of discipline, determination, and staying away from drugs for achieving success in any field.
Mathew has made a name in arm wrestling, fencing, and powerlifting. He drove from his native Kerala to Kashmir with his family to take part in the 45th National arm wrestling championship here. He is also 60 per cent orthopedically challenged.
