Srinagar- Delhi High Court’s notice to the incarcerated Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief, Mohammad Yasin Malik on NIAs plea seeking capital punishment to the separatist leader, evoked ‘varied’ response from the regional political parties in Kashmir.
While National Conference (NC) president and incumbent parliamentarian, Dr Farooq Abdullah refused to comment on the matter, Apni Party Chief and former minister, Syed Altaf Bukhari has sought justice for the separatist leader.
It may be in place to mention that the Delhi High Court has issued notice to the jailed separatist leader on a plea by the National Investigation Agency, seeking capital punishment for him in a militant funding case.
NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah while declining to comment on the issue said let’s wait for the court decision.
“Let’s jump the gun, I cannot say anything until the Court announces its decision, it’s a sub-judice matter, let the court decide then Farooq Abdullah will be able to comment,” Farooq told the media after attending a function here.
Taking a U-turn from his earlier statement that deterrent measures should be taken against those who are trying to threaten national security, Altaf Bukhari in a fresh tweet has appealed to the center to reinvestigate the case afresh.
Bukhari said Kashmir has been already suffering from the dark phase ever since the center abrogated Articles 370 and 35A and divided the erstwhile state into two Union Territories.
Seeking justice for incarcerated JKLF chief, Bukhari said no innocent should be trapped and no guilty should be spared.
“NIA is trying to be more hasty by approaching the Delhi’s High Court for the death plenty in the case of Yasin Malik. Everyone deserves justice, we want justice no innocent should be trapped and no guilty should be spared. Yasin Malik’s case should be reinvestigated. As we are already suffering from dark phase after the removal of Article 370 and statehood,” Bukhari has said in a tweet.
Earlier PDP president and former CM, Mehbooba Mufti sought the case to be reviewed and reinvestigated. PDP chief said JKLF chief Yasin Malik’s case must be reviewed and reconsidered as in a democracy like India even the assassins of a prime minister were pardoned.
