SRINAGAR- Sports activities by the Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS) were in full swing across Kashmir Valley on Friday.
In District Budgam, sports activities for tribal people were organised under the overall supervision of Secretary to Government DYSS and Director DYSS at various zones including Magam, Khansahib, Hardpanzoand and Charar-i-Sharief.
At Sports Zone Khansahib the competitions for Tribal Students/Players boys and girls were organised in the various disciplines at Rayir Beeru.
In Sports Zone Magam, department conducted competition for Tribal Players in the disciplines of Tug of War, carrom, chess at Mangral Check Shunglipora Khag. Zone Hardpanzoo organised competitions of Tug of War, Kabaddi, Badminton, carrom, chess, Hopscotch for Boys/Girls Open ST Category at Govt. High School.
More than 200 ST category students participated in these events. Zone Charari-sharief organised competitions for tribal students/Youth at two different venue MS Darwan Challyan and HS Nagbal in the discipline of tug of war, volleyball, Kabaddi, carrom and chess.
These events are being conducted on the directions of the Joint Director YS&S Kashmir Waseem Raja.
DYSS organized a captivating Nature Walk for girls in District Bandipora as part of its Annual calendar of Sports activities. The walk took place from the Zonal Physical Education Office (ZPEO) Bandipora to the enchanting Chaternaar Forest Division.
In Baramulla, various events as part of DYSS annual sports calendar, several sports events took place. Zone Dangarpora organized an exhilarating inter-school Cross Country Run for U-14/17 Boys. Zone Pattan held an Annual Road Race for Girls under 14 and 17 category. Sports Zone Sopore conducted a Cross Country Run for Boys under 14 and 17.
Zone Dangarpora witnessed the participation of over 200 students from all institutions in the inter-school Cross Country Run. The event commenced at Shiva Bridge and culminated at HSS Dangerpora. Hundreds of Students participated in these events.
Meanwhile thousands of students participate in Padyatras in south Kashmir districts. YSS Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam organised padyatras in different zones to give information about G-20 presidency.
DYSS Anantnag organised inter school level competitions in various zones. Events like vollyball, kabaddi and kho kho were played in Zone Mattan at Sports Stadium Tick Bagh under the supervision of ZPEO Mattan Fehmeeda Akhtar.
In Zone Srigufwara sports activities for the tribal youth were held at HSS Kathsoo.
DYSS Anantnag also organised Inter school Badminton Rope skipping tournament of U-17 Girls at GMHSS Anantnag. ZPEO Anantnag Shaheena Firdous along with the senior most PM Ghulam Nabi Bhat and Shabir Ahmad Shah inaugurated the tournament. In the above zones, almost 600 students participated with full enthusiasm.
