Srinagar- Police on Friday claimed to have arrested three gamblers during a raid in a forest area in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Maqsood Ahmad Beigh, Ab Hameed Ganie and Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh were arrested by a team of cops from Police Station Chandoosa from Bandi Balla forest area of the district on the basis of specific information, a police spokesperson said Friday.
However, another gambler Ab Majeed Sheikh, he said, managed to flee from the spot and efforts are on to nab the accused.
Besides playing cards, the spokesperson said, an amount of Rs 13140 were also seized from the spot.
“They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chandoosa and investigation has been initiated,” he added.
