Cautions Parents Against Purchasing Expensive Bikes For Minors

Srinagar- Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic city, Syed Muzaffar Shah said the efforts to curb rash driving and stunt riding are being ramped up in Srinagar and elsewhere and those found involved will face action.
The SSP said crackdown against stunt riding will be stepped up and that the offenders, who put other lives in danger in addition to their own, will be taken to task.
He claimed that reports about youngsters engaging in dangerous maneuvers on city streets without protective headgear are pouring in from several areas of the city.
“Drive against stunt riding and other traffic violations by youngsters continues in Srinagar and we will be stepping up the drive to curb this nuisance that poses a threat to pedestrians. Such acts won’t be tolerated,” SSP Traffic told Kashmir Observer.
He cautioned parents against buying a two-wheeler for their minor children and urged them to keep a close eye on their wards so as to save their lives and the lives of others.
The SSP Traffic said that 48 stunt bikers who were identified via social media have so far been detained, while 300 more have been identified, who will be detained shortly. He said the two-wheelers used for creepy stunts have also been seized.
He said the traffic police authorities need cooperation from parents and the general public to curb the menace of high-speed stunt biking in the summer capital.
“To end the menace of stunt riding in the summer capital, we need the help of the general public and parents. Since their children are endangering their lives by performing creepy stunts, parents have a far more significant role to play in this direction. Who better could advise the kids than their own parents,” he added.
SSP Traffic claimed that parents usually sway into emotions and purchase expensive bikes for their kids without thinking about the repercussions.
