Srinagar- A teenage girl student died on Saturday after slipping into an irrigation canal in Boniyar area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The 9th standard student was waiting for a school bus along Lower Jhelum Hydroelectric Power Project (LJHP) canal at Perniya village of Boniyar on Saturday morning when she lost control and fell into the canal, reports said.
Soon after the incident, an operation was launched to save the teen from drowning. However, after hours of struggle, her body was retrieved from the canal.
The body, according to reports, was handed over to the family after completion of medico-legal formalities.
