SRINAGAR- The J&K women’s football team was hammered 13-0 by Chhattisgarh in the 27th Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2022-23 on Saturday at Pant Stadium in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.
J&K’s embarrassing defeat was their third in a row in the championship, after losing 6-0 to Madhya Pradesh in the opening match and 5-0 against Delhi on March 29.
The Chhattishgarh women completely dominated the J&K women, scoring nine goals in the first half. The goals came in the 8th, 10th, 16th, 27th, 31st, 33rd, 43rd, 45th and 45+3 minutes. Chattisgarh added four more goals in the second half, with the goals coming in the 55th, 58th, 63rd and 90+3 minutes of the match.
Led by head coach Fayaz Ahmad Shah, the J&K women will now need to regroup, pick themselves up and start afresh as they next play Jharkhand on April 4.
