AJKPA Meeting With Divisional Administration Remains ‘Inconclusive’
By Majid Nabi
Srinagar- Patwari’s (Government Accountants) indefinite strike to press for their demands including hike in pay grade of graduate Patwari’s continued for 10th day, following ‘inconclusive’ meeting with Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir on Friday.
“Strike has not been suspended as the meeting of AJKPA with Div Com remained inconclusive and earlier news regarding deferment of strike is hereby rebutted. Decision whether to continue or call off the strike will be taken after discussion,” an executive member of AJKPA said.
He said the representatives of the Patwar Association were called by Div Com KAshmir at his office, however the meeting remained inconclusive, following which they decided to continue the strike.
Pertinently, Patwari’s following All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association (AJKPA) call, began an indefinite strike on March 1 in all 20 districts of the Union Territory to exert a pull on the administration to fulfill their demands.
Demands include an increase in the grade pay of graduate Patwari’s from 2400 to 2800, blanket ban on direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, creation of Girdawar circles and rationalizing of Patwar halqas.
““We were fighting for our rights for year’s altogether and despite repeated assurances, none of our demands was fulfilled as yet, irked by the dilly-dallying tactics, we decided to go for an indefinite strike from March 1 and won’t resume duties till our demands are fulfilled,” said he.
He said the meeting with the Div Com lasted for around an hour during which the striking Patwari’s highlighted their demands.
He said the Div Com gave patient hearing to their demands and assured that the government will try to address the issues confronting Patwari’s as early as possible.
“We are hopeful that our demands will be considered and fulfilled as the Div Com gave patient hearing to the issues highlighted by us and assured that the same will be fulfilled at the earliest, but we cannot take any decision in haste. Minutes of the meeting will be shared later,” he added.
