33-Year-Old’s Lifeless Body Found In Forest Area After 75 Days
Srinagar– The long wait of a family from Kunan area of Kupwara to hear about their missing son, ended on Wednesday after the youth’s lifeless body was found in a forest area in the frontier district.
According to a police spokesperson, the body of 33-year-old Abdul Rashid Dar was recovered from Zurhama -PK Galli forest area. The body, he said, was brought to Sub-district hospital (SDH) Kupwara where it was identified by the relatives of the missing person.
After completing all medico-legal formalities, including post mortem, Rashid’s body was handed over to the family members for burial.
The trauma for Dar’s family started on a cold night of December 15 when a posse of soldiers raided their house and began asking for Rashid.
A day later when the family went to the army camp seeking details of Rashid, they were told that their son had fled from their custody.
A week after his disappearance, National Conference (NC) Member Parliament Hasnain Masoodi took up the matter with union defence minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.
Singh, according to reports, assured the NC leader that he would look into the matter
However, as the days passed by, the Dar family staged repeated protests in Srinagar demanding the whereabouts of their son. Their search ended on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the police spokesperson said that cognisance of the matter has been taken for further investigations.
