SRINAGAR- The All India Chess Federation (AICF) Chess For Every One FIDE-rated chess tournament concluded on Tuesday at Indoor Hall Polo Ground here.
Nilanta Chanda of West Bangal, Javid Ahmed Mir of Srinagar (J&K) and Farooq Faisal of Srinagar (J&K) scored 7½ points each, but with a better tie break Nilanta Chanda secured first place.
Chanda won 7 games and drew 1 to win the tournament with 7½ points. He drew with Shah Burhan Ahmad in the 5th round and lost in the final round to Farooq Faisal, but won all other games. Javid Ahmed Mir secured second place and Farooq Faisal had to be content with third place.
Comrade Parvaiz (Treasurer – The Kashmir Chess Club) has been organising chess
events and around Srinagar to promote chess. Pavan Rathi (FIDE Arbiter from Telangana)
and Arshid Ahmad, Senior National Arbiter from Srinagar) were officially appointed as Chief
Arbiter and Deputy Chief Arbiter, respectively.
The Kashmir Chess Club is organising this event and under the auspices of AJKCA, AICF and FIDE. This is the second edition of rating tournament. The event carried a total number of 45 prizes.
