SRINAGAR- Two persons died in separate road accidents in uptown Srinagar on Thursday officials said. A two-wheeler rider died, after allegedly being knocked down by a Power Development Department (PDD) official vehicle at Chanapora locality.
Identified as Javed Ahmad son of Ghulam Nabi Mir of Gojwara, a youth suffered serious injuries and died on the spot after allegedly being hit by a PDD vehicle.
Deceased, reports said, was riding his two-wheeler, bearing registration number JK01AP-0109, when a PDD truck knocked him down at Chanapora Bypass, resulting in his on the spot death.
As soon as the incident took place, a police team immediately rushed to the spot, to ascertain facts.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and set the investigation into motion.
Meanwhile a pedestrian died after being hit by a two-wheeler at Chinar Colony in Baghat area of uptown Srinagar this morning.
Witnesses said that a pedestrian identified as Abdul Aziz Sheikh, a resident of Chinar Colony was hit by a two-wheeler (Scooty) in Baghat area. He was shifted to SMHS Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the Scooty driver and registered a case under relevant sections of law.
