In an interesting turn of events Police on Tuesday booked three officials of Srinagar Municipality (SMC) for demolishing a traffic police picket in Srinagar. The incident came amid massive demolition drive in Kashmir and resultant protests. SMC officials came in a bulldozer and removed the traffic picket they said was erected on encroached state land. Traffic Cops can be heard shouting that no prior notice was served before demolition. Two sides had a tiff over the issue. Police took cognisance and lodged an FIR against SMC employees for breaking traffic booth as well as assaulting traffic personnel on duty in Srinagar. In a tweet, Srinagar police wrote, “An incident has come to notice wherein one SMC employee aggrieved by challan on not having HSRP, came back and broke a traffic booth with others, later assaulted traffic personnel on duty. In this regards FIR has been registered against 3 what it called delinquent SMC employees.
