Srinagar- Rajbhasha Cell of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK), Thursday organised a one-day workshop on “Rajbhasha Policies, Annual Programme and Quarterly Report,” for the employees of the varsity at Green Campus here.
Finance Officer and Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Mehrajudin Shah, Deputy Registrar, Mr. Abdul Rashid Bhat, Hindi Adhikari, Dr. Sakina Akhter and other senior officials of the university administration were present during the event.
Addressing the gathering, Finance officer, Dr. Mehrajudin Shah in his presidential address said majority of people in India speak Hindi and it is easily understood which can make it the language of every indian. “Proper training for learning this language must be undertaken in offices and other places as this language has a lot of scope to become our national language.” He further added that Hindi as a language must be put in school curriculum so that the necessary training starts early.
Former Director. Rajbhasha, Ministry of Home affairs, Dr. Suniti Sharma, in her special address (online) appreciated the efforts of the Rajbhasha cell of the varsity in ensuring progress and implementation of Hindi language. She said that despite a variety of languages, dialects from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Hindi is chosen as the main language as Rajbhasha. She said that these workshops prove to be a reminder to all regarding the importance of use of this language. “We need to spread it, enrich it and embellish it keeping in view the composite culture of our country” she added.
Two technical sessions were also conducted during the day-long workshop. Dr. Suniti Sharma during the first technical session titled as “Rajbhasha Policies, Annual programme, Quarterly Report” presented a detailed overview of the implementation of Rajbhasha policies, annual reports and quarterly reports of the University to the concerned ministry. She also emphasized on the importance of use of Rajbhasha in official work to achieve the targets set by the department of Official Languages, Government of India regarding the progressive use of Hindi. She also threw light on various official language acts, rules and regulations as well as directions issued from time to time by the department.
Hindi Adhikari, Dr. Sakina Akhter, in her lecture during the second technical session titled as “How to use Hindi in official work effectively” deliberated upon various methods and ways employed for capacity building of the employees of the varsity. She further added that the cell has been working for the implementation of Hindi as the official language and has been making good progress in this regard. “Two classes per week are conducted for the employees to learn Hindi language and there is considerable improvement in the writing, reading and comprehension of this language,”, she added.
Hindi Adhikari, Dr. Sakina Akhter conducted the programme proceedings while as Deputy Registrar, Mr. Abdul Rashid Bhat proposed vote of thanks.
