Jammu- The Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said on Thursday that his force has come a long way and need to put in more efforts to ensure terror free Jammu and Kashmir in which children can continue to take part in any activity without any fear.
Addressing a darbar of officers and jawans of 4 IRP battalions stationed at Parihaspora Complex in Pattan, Singh congratulated all ranks for their role in maintaining peace across J&K.
“I felt great satisfaction during the recent Public interaction meetings wherein people are acknowledging the efforts & good work of J&K Police,” Singh said, as per a police spokesperson.
“People’s opinion about JK Police & forces has changed for good now as compared to what it used to be few years back. People of J&K are having a sigh of relief from terror and are not hindering in telling the truth openly,” he added.
The DGP, the spokesperson said, expressed satisfaction and pleasure that the dividends of the hardwork of the force are visible.
“Police & force is duty bound to make sure that no one is playing with the law as no one is above the law. It’s our responsibility to safeguard the lives and property of the people,” the Police Chief said.
He said that people were doing their business and day to day activities freely because they trust the police.
“There are some elements who are worried as their conspiracies are not making any effect on common people,” he added
Referring to the observation of Union Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah during an interview with a national television channel, in which he had lauded the anti-terror fight by police, Singh said that it was an honour for the force that its work is being appreciated and acknowledged at higher levels.
“We have come a long way and need to put in more efforts to ensure terror free J&K in which our children can continue to take part in any activity without any fear,” he added.
The DGP, the spokesperson said, advised the officers & jawans to take care of their physical fitness and conduct regular refresher training courses, different sports activities to be organised on regular basis.
“The DGP advised Jawans to keep an eye on the day to day activities of their wards so that they would not get trapped in any drug menace. He advised the police personnel to keep a special focus on the studies of their children so that they could achieve bigger goals,” he said.
Referring to the grievances of jawans, the DGP as per the spokesperson said that it is the priority of Police Headquarters & all wing headquarters to look after the welfare of jawans at all levels including transfer & posting.
“He assured that all genuine grievances will be looked at on priority. He said that a special accommodation facility is being created in Srinagar in the PCR complex for the police personnel. Similar facility would be created in Jammu also,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the spokesperson said that ADGP Armed SJM Gillani said that under the leadership of DGP, the level of infrastructure of Armed units has changed for good. He added that armed units are expecting continuous generosity in future in terms of infrastructural development.
Earlier, the DGP laid foundation stone of a hostel for wards of Police personnel at PCR Complex Srinagar. He also inaugurated NGO’s Mess of IRP 20th Battalion at Parihaspora, Pattan.
