Srinagar- A possible mishap was averted after 4 electric poles with 33 KV transmission lines fell on Friday in Iqbal Colony area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, while no loss of life was reported in the incident.
Quoting locals, news agency KNO reported that at least four electric poles with 33 KV lines fell in Iqbal Colony area of Baramulla today.
They said they already had appraised the concerned department to replace these poles as they were posing a threat, but their pleas seem to have fallen on deaf ears.
“The department was waiting for any untoward incident to happen, but fortunately a possible tragedy was avoided today as electricity was already cut off,” they said.
Meanwhile, a power development department (PDD) official told KNO that they took measures a number of times but locals residing there were not allowing them to replace the poles with reasons best known to them.
“We called local police today for protection and the poles will be replaced today only, besides electricity will be restored till evening,” he said.
