‘BMO’s should have been authorized to verify the age of beneficiaries’
Budgam- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Vice President Kashmir Province Er. Nazir Yatoo said that he was surprised to know that old age pensioners and widows are being asked to get the age certificate verified through Chief Medical Officers CMOs at district headquarters.
“How we can quantify that person’s suffering who travel 30 kilometers from home to the CMO office in this freezing weather waiting in queue while using a stick to stand up ” said Nazir Yatoo
“There would not have been a rush at CMO offices if the government had conducted age verification at the block level no one would have suffered” he said
Er. Nazir Yatoo further added it is upsetting to see our people moving from pillar to post in order to keep getting the meagre financial aid.
“This pension is only a means of sustaiance for some people, and the government should consider those elderly pensioners who live alone and do not have care givers to assist them in reaching the CMO office at least authorize BMO’s to issue age certificates in those cases” he further added.
