Ganderbal- The HELP Foundation in collaboration with Kashmir American Society for Healthcare, Medical Education and Research (KASHMER) held a program on the importance of Mental Health awareness and substance abuse at Central University Kashmir Ganderbal on Monday.
The event was held in collaboration with the IT Department of the Central University. Students and faculty members of the Department took part in the programme.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Aafaq Alam Khan, Assistant Professor IT Department, Central University.
Dr Syed Riyaz Ahmed, Project Director KASHMER spoke on various social programs of KASHMER being held in collaboration with HELP Foundation and Help Poor Voluntary Trust in the Kashmir Valley.
Dr Muzaffar Khan, Consultant Psychologist and Director YDRC, Healthy Minds counselors Uzma Sami and Adil spoke on the importance of mental health, different kinds of mental health dysfunctionalities and substance abuse in the society.
Dr Mohd Afzal Zargar, Registrar CUK summed up different aspects of mental health issues in our society.
“It is important to share mental health concerns with families, friends and mental health care experts” Dr Afzal said.
In this regard he also envisioned cooperation between two entities regarding carrying group sessions and workshops related to various mental health disorders.
Pertinently, KASHMER has been providing all services to the Kashmiri community free of cost.
Speakers also spoke on the importance of pre-hospital care and how it helps reduce mortality and morbidity of patients that require urgent treatment.
Attendees of the event were also made aware about how to call free Emergency Medical Service critical care ambulances at 9484100200/01942310018.
