SRINAGAR- A 10-day leadership training program organized by the State Leadership Academy (SLA) of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) aimed at inducting newly promoted headmasters to the school system concluded here at Bemina on Friday.
At least 30 headmasters from across all the districts of the Kashmir Division attended the program.
A wide range of experts, both internal and invited for the occasion from other departments, talked throughout the extensive sessions over the course of a 10-day period, covering topics including finance, bookkeeping, administrative matters, record maintenance, operating rules and procedures and various other management-related topics.
Officers from the SCERT who spoke on various topics during the workshop included Dr Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, Dr Rabia Naseem Moghul, Dr. Jan Mudasir Gul, Sheikh Gulzar Ahmad, Masood Ali, Riyaz Ahmad Dar, Dr Sajjad Ahmad, Dr Saima and Farooq Shah.
Among others who spoke at the workshop included Syed Mohammad Amin (Ex CEO Budgam), Mohammad Amin Beg (Principal BHSS, Soura), Arshid Ahmad Zargar (DIET Kulgam), Dr Arsheed Salroo (DIET Anantnag), Nusrat Geelani (DIET Srinagar), Tariq Ahmad (DIET Baramulla) and Ruheed Gul (DIET Anantnag).
The four extremely knowledgeable professionals, who spoke extensively about financial issues, bookkeeping, record maintenance, and GEM purchases were the workshop’s high point. They included Ex Joint Director, Finance, Mohamed Ashraf Malik, District Treasury Officer, Anatnag, Dr.Sajad Ahmad Wani, chartered accountant, Mr Mohammed Iqbal, and Zahoor-ul-Islam from Securities and Exchange Board of India.
Three more programs on preparing Teaching Learning Material (TLM) and Capacity Building Workshop for Librarians and “Contextualising CWSN School Preparedness” module ran alongside this 10-day workshop.
Subject matter specialists were asked to create TLM in the disciplines of English, Urdu, Kashmiri, and Hindi for grades 1 through 8 in the form of flash cards, worksheets, and other pedagogical exercises. The SCERT’s Education in Languages division organised the programme.
Experts emphasised the automation of the libraries at their various schools during a 5-day course for librarians on strengthening their ability. They also discussed the significance of ICT involvement in the library management system. The program was organised by the Library and Documentation division of the SCERT.
In the five-day session for the Inclusive Education division, specialists shed light on the obstacles and difficulties experienced by children with special needs (CWSN) and offered solutions.
In the joint valedictory ceremony, Joint Director SCERT Mohammad Sharif Dehdar thanked the experts and attendees and emphasised the importance of putting the priceless lessons learned into practise because, in his words, without doing so, all such initiatives and programmes are a waste of time, money, and resources.
