Srinagar- Police in Doda district on Saturday claimed to have arrested a fraudster from Uttar Pradesh after a three-year long hunt.
Mohd Mustafeez of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh was arrested for posing himself as a travel agent and duping people of Rs 33.50 lacs on the pretext of Haj ticket, a police spokesperson said.
“In this connection case FIR No. 184/2019 U/S 420 IPC registered at Police Station Doda but he was evading arrest for the last three years,” he said.
Giving further details, the spokesperson said that a massive hunt was launched by police in which sources were cultivated for generating information about the movement and presence of the absconder and to track him.
“Ultimately, after receiving specific information about his presence, a Police team of PS Doda, under the supervision of Jaswant Singh, DySP Hqrs Doda arrested the fraudster on 25.11.2022 and produced him before the Hon’ble Court Doda,” he said.
