SRINAGAR- J&K senior men’s cricket team will take on Uttarakhand on Wednesday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match that could decide their future in the competition.
After five rounds of matches, J&K sit second in the Elite Group D table with 16 points. Punjab have won all their matches to top the group with 20 points. Breathing down J&K’s neck are Ranji champions, Madhya Pradesh, who have taken 12 points from their five matches. And have a better Net Run Rate than J&K. With seven teams in Elite Group D, each team plays six matches.
This leaves J&K in a must-win fixture against a decent side like Uttarakhand, as only the top two teams will progress to the next round of the one-day tournament.
If J&K win, they will seal their spot in the pre-quarterfinals. A loss will give MP the golden opportunity to progress by beating Baroda. MP and Baroda face off today at 9:00 am, playing 30 minutes before J&K take on Uttarakhand.
