Children are malleable that their core values and traits can be shaped very strongly at a young age. So, choosing a pre-school that imbibes the necessary traits and values in children helps a great deal. It helps create school ready children.
Over the years, the number of Pre-preparatory Schools or crèche’s in Srinagar have registered mushroom growth. The number of children seeking admissions to these pre-preparatory schools is more than ever before. However, it is also raising questions that are crèches really contributing to the purpose of child grooming or parents are falling for what most people in the society do.
For me, sending my children to pre-preparatory school was more of a compulsion than a choice. Sometimes, handling kids becomes so difficult that one cannot give the right affection to her child. Earlier, the joint family system was prevalent and grandparents would take care of the children. In changing times, parents want to bring their children their way without the interference of others. It is part of popular culture.

For working women, crèche’s are no less than a blessing. Pre-preparatory schools prepare children for schools and provide them with a friendly environment for the same. Children take part in co-curricular activities which helps them for a better tomorrow. Moreover, people in the city have space constraints, children get addicted to mobile phones so it is better they be put in a play way atmosphere which is only available at a crèche.

The kind of infrastructure available in creches is impossible to have at home. The child is involved in a lot of activities, some of which are done in groups which makes the child proactive. It makes a child disciplined in a way that he or she has to attend formal school tomorrow. So, in my opinion, In order to keep pace with time, children need pre-schooling so that when they enter schools they behave in a disciplined way.

In contemporary times everyone is busy, my child was over active and outgoing. That was the primary reason I sent him to pre-preparatory school. But it is important to ensure that a crèche has the requisite infrastructure and properly trained teachers for the overall development of the child. One has to ensure that his or her child goes happily to the pre-primary school and he or she is not pressured to do so.

The care a mother gives to her child cannot be given by any other individual. Those who run these crèches need to understand that they are dealing with tender human brains. It needs to be ensured that these children get one to one attention which is not possible when only the commercial angle is taken into consideration.
Usually, a two year child is admitted to a crèche, it is a very sensitive age. Under normal conditions a child should not be separated from a child at a very tender age but with the change in lifestyle, it has become a compulsion.
If the family atmosphere is hostile, then crèche becomes a good choice but if the household is healthy there cannot be any parallel to that in terms of child care.
Those who work at crèches need to be trained at emotional level. The infrastructure should be up to the mark.
As far as the crèches in the city are concerned, whether they have the requisite infrastructure and trained professionals is a matter of research.
