Srinagar- Police on Friday claimed to have solved a hit and run case in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district by arresting the accused in just three days.
According to a police spokesperson, an unknown vehicle on Wednesday hit a biker Manzoor Ahmad Kaloo of Nesbal, Sumbal at Derand area of Ganderbal district, leaving him on the spot dead. The driver, he said, fled from the scene along with his car
Accordingly, the spokesperson said, a case FIR number 306/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation was initiated.
Acting swiftly, he said, a police party led by SI Fayaz Ahmad I/C PP Nagbal started a hot pursuit of the unknown driver and arrested him after hectic efforts.
He said that the vehicle (JK01H-4211) has also been seized.
The spokesperson identified the accused driver as Ghulam Hassan Kandro of Ashai Bagh, Nigeen here.
“He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. Further investigation of the case is in progress,” he said.
“Our efforts should assure community members that Police are resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities,” he added.
