Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant from North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Shahid Hussain Bhat of Plan Bandipora was arrested by a joint team of Police, army’s 14 RR and the personnel of CRPF 3rd battalion during an input based search operation about the movement of militants in Zalwan Nursary area of the district, a police spokesperson said.
Bhat, he said, is a locally trained terrorist of LeT and was in touch with militant of LeT in POK and was given the task to target police and security forces in Bandipora. Besides, the spokespersons said that he was also tasked by his handlers across the border to mobilise the youth for recruiting them in LeT.
On Bhat’s disclosure, the spokesperson said, two Hand Grenades were recovered which he had kept in paddy fields near Ward No.04 Plan Bandipora.
“In this connection Case FIR No. 168/2022 was registered in PS Bandipora and further investigation has been taken up,” he added.
