Five Arrested, Stolen Items Worth Lakhs Recovered
Srinagar- Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves in this capital city by arresting five youth and recovering stolen items worth lakhs of rupees from them.
Owais Amin Najar of Shahwari here filed a written complaint with police post Banmohalla regarding theft of his vehicle (JK05B 2105), a police spokesperson said. Upon the complaint, he said, a Case FIR No. 50/ 2022 U/S 379 IPC was registered in PS MR GUNJ.
During the investigation of the instant case and technical assistance received from North police lab, the spokesperson said, 5 suspects were picked up for questioning.
During sustained questioning, he said, they disclosed their involvement in the said case and many other theft cases.
Police identified them as Arsalan Mushtaq Wandroo of Rainawari, Momin Bilal Bhat of Khaniyar, Mehran Shafi Bhat of Mir Masjid Khaniyar, Rameez Showkat Matooof Hazari Bazar Rainawari and Nadeem Ahmad Sheikh of Sheikh Colony Hawal.
The spokesperson said that motorcycle, over two dozen mobile phones, wrist watch and gas cylinder were recovered after the interrogation of the accused.
“Moreover the above said vehicle Maruti Car numbered JK05B 2105 also stands recovered from the said persons,” he said, adding “The investigation of the instant case is going on and more recoveries are expected.
