New Delhi- Two years since its inception, Awaz the Voice has reached millions of people across India with the message of mutual coexistence. The multi-media news portal that has made its presence felt across various social media platforms does regular features on geopolitics, Indian culture and heritage, youth related matters, entertainment and sports.
However, what is bringing Awaz into notice is the sheer disinterestedness and non-partisanship with which the platform approaches even the potentially divisive issues. As is reflected on its website the aim of the platform is to build bridges between the communities. This is an extraordinary feat given that it is often discussed these days that there are no takers for the positive content and reconciliatory stories in these times.
On its twitter handle @AwazThevoice recently, a video was shared of the famous poet, Kunwar Mohinder Singh Bedi Sehar in which he is reciting Naat poetry in praise of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Instantly the video went viral and the twitterati appreciated the role of Awaz for highlighting such content that talks about bringing communities together.
In October 2022 alone, the platform has done hundreds of stories highlighting the struggles of ordinary people, success stories, features on burning issues of the day, opinion pieces from veteran columnists and many discussions on its YouTube channel around faith, politics, climate change, culture, mental health and history. Saquib Saleem, a historian who brings out forgotten facets of important historical events, personalities and places is a very popular name on the platform. He writes on lesser known facts and recently he did a story on freedom fighters Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, Rabindra Nath Tagore and Sri Aurobindo.
Awaz did a feature on budding young Muslim cricketer Shahbaz Ahmed from Nuh Haryana on Wednesday. In the 2021–22 Ranji trophy season, Shahbaz scored 582 runs in five matches and took nine wickets. During his three-year stint at Royal Challengers Bangalore, Shahbaz emerged as an all-rounder and became one of the pillars of the Indian Premier League franchise. Shahbaz Ahmed made his international cricket debut for India against South Africa on Sunday and became the 247th international cricketer to represent his country in ODIs. He also took a wicket in his first match against South Africa.
