Srinagar- After allegations of medical negligence came to forth at Ramzaan Hospital, the authorities on Monday sealed Operation Theatre of the private Healthcare facility at Gogji Bagh.
The Authorities have also constituted a committee to probe the alleged medical negligence, sealed the Operation Theatre and all the surgical procedures have also been suspended.
Spokesperson of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), Dr Mir Mushtaq said the move has been made after taking note of the allegations of the family members of deceased ladies, who allegedly died due to medical negligence.
“The DHSK has constituted a committee and it has been asked to file a report within a week and strict action will be taken if allegations are found true” Dr Mushtaq said.
He further said that CMO Srinagar has constituted a panel to probe the matter and ascertain facts about the allegations, which has been levelled against the doctors.
He said that patients admitted there will be taken care of, however, no new surgery procedures are allowed till the probe is completed.
Despite repeated attempts CMO Srinagar did not respond to phone calls.
An official from the Ramzaan Hospital confirmed to Kashmir Observer that Operation Theatre has been sealed and a probe is underway.
“Once the probe is completed, all the facts will come to the forth.” He however clarified that OPD is functioning normally.
“Netizens Hail Move”
After the news of the seizure of Operation Theatre at Ramzaan Hospital went viral on social media, the move was widely hailed by netizens.
“If the doctors are found guilty, strict action must be initiated against them and the hospital should be shut” wrote Andleeb Bashir on social networking site Facebook.
Another Facebook user voiced similar views saying private healthcare facilities have taken people’s lives for granted.
“The authorities should suspend the license of the Hospital if allegations of medical negligence are proven” Zahid Qureshi wrote.
It is pertinent to mention, on August 25 family members of a lady from Theed Harwan alleged medical negligence by the doctors after she died at the hospital, while on September 9 another lady from Nowgam Srinagar also died due to alleged medical negligence.
