LG Expresses Gratitude To PM, Union Minister For Rural Development
Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Friday expressed gratitude to the Central government for approving a road length of 1276 KMs in rural areas under third phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the Union Territory.
The road is being covered under the centrally sponsored scheme at a cost of Rs 1357 Crore by the Union Ministry for Rural Development.
According to an official spokesperson, the LG expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Rural Development, Giriraj Singh.
Sinha, he said, termed the approval for PMGSY-III as yet another milestone in the rural connectivity of J&K and said that the modern rural infrastructure, enhanced connectivity will improve rural economy and ease of living.
“It will provide all-weather road connectivity to unconnected Habitations for sustainable and inclusive growth,” the LG said.
Pertinently, the spokesperson said, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Jammu and Kashmir is among best performing States/UTs in the country.
“With the mission of ensuring safety, connectivity, and mobility to every village, 2353 PMGSY projects covering 17,336 km connecting 2071 habitations have already been completed. In 2021-22, 3284 Kms PMGSY roads were constructed, besides 7301 Kms were blacktopped. Further, 125 bridges are to be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to provide connectivity to far-flung areas,” he added.
