Srinagar- For the first time in over last five months, the daily Coronavirus cases took a big jump in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday as 697 more people tested positive for the deadly infection, even as no fresh fatality was reported from the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
Kashmir Valley reported the highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases after a gap of over five months, with 416 people confirmed infected by the virus, officials said Tuesday. In Jammu, 281 new cases of Coronavirus were detected, taking the total number of people infected since the onset of pandemic in J&K to 461255.
Giving district-wise details, the officials said, that Srinagar reported the highest 268 cases, Baramulla 71, Budgam 22, Kupwara 20, Bandipora 14, Ganderbal 10, Kulgam 6, Anantnag 3 and Pulwama 2. Shopian was the only district in the Valley where no new cases were detected.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 147 new cases of virus, Doda 40, Udhampur 20, Rajouri and Kishtwar 16 each, Kathua 13, Samba 11, Poonch 10, Ramban 7 and Reasi one new case of Covid-19.
Also, the officials said that the death toll in the pandemic remained unchanged at 4763 in J&K—2337 in Jammu and 2426 in Kashmir, as no fresh fatality was reported during the last 24 hours.
“Moreover, 260 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 110 from Jammu division and 150 from Kashmir division,” they added.
