Srinagar- The inter-college Volleyball cum Table Tennis tournament of Constituent and Affiliated colleges of Cluster University commenced from Saturday at Govt. College of Education IASE MA Road.
The programme organized by the Department of Physical Education, Govt. College of Education IASE, MA Road was inaugurated by the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz.
In the inaugural session, the Principal welcomed all the participants and the faculty accompanying them. She also highlighted the importance of the role of sports activities in maintaining physical as well as mental health and encouraged the students to ensure their participation in future activities.
The chief guest of the occasion was Prof. Tariq Ashai, Sports Secretary, Cluster University Srinagar. He also encouraged the students to take part in such activities.
Various Affiliated Degree Colleges of the Cluster University Srinagar participated in the event.
In accordance with the fixture schedule, 1st Inter Volley Ball match was held between GCET, Safapora V/s S.P.College, Srinagar where in the former won the match against the latter. The 2nd Volley Ball match was held between GDC, Hyderpora V/s Amar Singh College, Srinagar wherein, Amar Singh College emerged as the winning team.
Next match was held between Host College V/s Govt. Women’s College M.A. Road, Srinagar where the host college that is Govt. College of Education, IASE, M.A. Srinagar came across as victorious.
The last match of the day was played between AAA Memorial Degree College, Bemina and GDC, Alouchi Bagh, Srinagar where GDC, Alouchi Bagh was beaten by AAA, Memorial Degree College, Bemina.
In parallel Table Tennis Tournament was also held in Table tennis Hall of the host college where remarkable participation of various degree colleges was seen.
1st Table Tennis Match was held between AAA Memorial Degree College, Bemina V/s Amar Singh College, Srinagar wherein Amar Singh College, Srinagar was beaten by AAA Memorial Degree College, Bemina in singles. In the 2nd match of the tournament S.P. College, Srinagar was beaten by GCET, Safapora in doubles. Furthermore, GDC, Hyderpora was beaten by Govt. Womens College, M.A. Road, Srinagar.
In the last Table Tennis match of the day, GDC, Alouchi Bagh was defeated by the host college, Govt. College of Education, M.A. Road, Srinagar.
The programme was coordinated by M Ayoub, Physical Director of the college and the programme was compared by Prof. Aijaz Ahmad Dar. The rapporteur of the event was Prof. Gousia Nissar and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Nuzhat Nasreen.
