Srinagar- The District Mineral Officer (DMO) Budgam along with the team of officials raided Mineral Block 12, Madbal Chadoora in Doodhganga Nallah during wee hours on Tuesday.
The team was assisted by a police party from Police Station Chadoora.
Officials said they seized a heavy excavator at Madbal Chadoora that was found involved in extraction before the permitted time.
“The machine was seized on the spot for violating permitted timings”, they said.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, District Mineral Officer Budgam Dr Ghulam Din said the equipment was seized for violating extraction timing.
“The contractor is supposed to work from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and he had violated the timing norms, so we seized the equipment” Ghulam Din said.
He further said that the contractor had completed all the formalities and he had violated only one norm and they would impose fine on the violator.
Replying to the allegations that the extraction at Doodh Ganga is being done illegally, he said “these are mere allegations and the violator has completed all the formalities and paid fee in the government treasury, he was fined for violating time norms” he said.
He said further action will be initiated against the violator.
