Srinagar- Police on Tuesday said it arrested four drug peddlers in the city. In a statement issued to Kashmir Observer, it said arrests are being made to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.
They have also seized four vehicles in Srinagar and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Nowhatta arrested four drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession. They have been identified as Nasser Maqbool son of Maqbool Ahmad resident of Saida Kadal Rainawari, Mudasir Ahmed Najar son of Mohd Sadiq Najar resident of Naid Kadal Khanyar, Aqib Ahmed Shah son of Nisar Ahmed Shah resident of Dar Mohallah Soura and Jaseem Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmed resident of Ranghama Nowhatta. Besides, four vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and investigation has been initiated.
Police urged the community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood.
“Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”, Police said.
