Srinagar- To review the arrangements for the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Azha, a meeting of all Zonal Officers was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad .
Deputy Commissioner took a Department wise review of the arrangements being put in place for smooth celebrations of upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festivities in the District. He also took stock of the rates fixed by the Government and notified sales points for selling sacrificial animals and for the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha.
On the occasion, the DC passed directions to all Departments to take elaborate measures well in advance for smooth celebrations of auspicious Eid-ulAzha festivities.
The DC directed the Assistant Director FCS&CA to ensure that the process of Ration distribution is completed before Eid so that people do not face any difficulty in this regard. He directed the officers to intensify the market checking and ensure all commodities including meat, chicken bakery and sweets are sold at already Government fixed rates, besides ensure availability of all essential supplies in the market to avoid hoardings and profiteering.
The DC directed the SMC authorities to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness at all the places particularly around prominent Ziyarats and Masjids besides ensuring proper functioning of all street lights.
The concerned Tehsildars were asked to take appropriate measures for ensuring that Sacrificial Goat/Sheep are sold at already Government notified rates in their respective jurisdictions.
During the meeting, the DC urged upon Sectoral officers of PHE and PDD to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity during auspicious occasion days. He asked the PHE department to keep water tankers in ready state to cater any exigent need. The R&B authorities were asked to complete necessary road repairs and blacktopping in the City areas.
Emphasising on intensifying market checking, the DC directed for activating market surveillance Squads to check the quality of food items such as Bakery, Confectionery, Milk, Meat Chicken, Vegetables and other essentials in the market and take strict action against the erring traders.
On the occasion, the Traffic police authorities were asked to ensure smooth movement of traffic across the City and issue necessary route plans if required to overcome any traffic jams, while ARTO was directed to ensure adequate transport arrangements during Eid days.
Similarly, Fire & Emergency authorities were asked to remain alert and establish fire tenders at specific places including near Shrines and other prominent religious places.
Earlier, the DC was apprised by the Chief Executive Officer Wakf Board, Mufti Fareed-u-Din that large congregational Eid Prayers are expected to be held at prominent Shrines of the District including Dargah Hazratbal where about one lakh devotees are expected to participate in Eid-ul-Azha Prayers. He stressed that all necessary arrangements be made on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Besides, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Haneef Balkhi, Superintendent of Police, Arif Ahmad, the meeting was attended by Superintending Engineers of R&B and PHE Hydraulic Circle Srinagar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineer, PHE, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency and other officers from FCS&CA, Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, Legal Metrology, Traffic, RTO and other Departments.
