SRINAGAR- 1st Hapkido State Championship was held from 18th to 20th June at Indoor Sports Complex, Polo View, here. The championship was organised under the aegis of Country Wide Hapkido Federation.
A large number of players from various Kashmir districts, Schools and Clubs participated in this event, including Cassette School, Crescent Public School, White Hall School, Girls Higher Sec. School Soura, Green Land Educational institute, Boys Higher Secondary School Soura, Girls Higher Secondary School Nawakadal, Leez Karate Dojo, International Tiger’s Martial Arts Organisation.
“We recently took affiliation of Hapkido game and we found a significant interest of students in this game since it involves kicks, punches, and throwing comparable to Judo and Taekwondo,” said Shahid Hilal Malik, the event’s organiser.
“The major goal of organising this event is to inspire students from all around the country to come and participate,” he added.
“I am extremely pleased with the championship; I would like such events to be held every year since they provide us with not only physical but also mental strength,” said Adiya, a competitor.
“I encourage everyone in the country to get out and participate in sports,” she continued.
“The need for self-defense is essential. We should encourage our youngsters to learn martial arts and Hapkido by holding events like these,” added a Hapikdo member.
The Officials of the event were Sahiba Nisar, Tabasum, Muskan, Najeeb, Inaab ul Nabi, Mohammad Dawood, Mohsin, Muskan Sofi, Insha, Rasik, Anas, Peerzada Muhammad Iqbal, Aaqib, Taha, Shahid, Ashiq Hussain, Irfan, Uzma and Taqwa Andrabi. While organisers of this event were Khusboo, Shahid, Faizan and Irfan.
Guest of honours included Aafaq Sadiq GoH, Syed Manzoor Shah GoH, Adnan Shah President I.T.M.A.O., Fazil Khan Vice President JKHA, Dawood Sofi General secretary JKHA, Muhammad Shoaib President JKHA, Parvaiz Hussain Khan, General secretary I.T.M.A.O., Mirza Sajid Hussain Beigh Secretary General JDU, Sudesh Kumar General Secretary CHF, Nasir Ahmad Naiko Councillor SMC, Raja Mushtaq GoH, Junaid Bashir MD Hotel City Palace, Rameez Banday GoH, Arshid Ahmad, Director TCI, SHO Ahmednagar, Lal Bazar SHO, Karan Major 125 BN THE GUARDS.
