Srinagar- Months after the drainage work started at Dr Ali Jan road, authorities have failed to repair the vital stretch of road leading to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences.
Due to construction of the drainage system, one portion of the road has been closed for vehicular movement which results in massive traffic jams.
Locals say it has been several months that he work has started but much to the disappointment of commuters and local populace it work on the drainage work is yet to be completed
“Ambulances find it hard to ferry patients on the road leaving critically suffering patients” locals say.
Locals can be seen sprinkling water on the road stretch from Grid Lane to Said Pora to contain the dust arising from the under construction stretch.
“We sprinkle water on the stretch as authorities have left us to fend for ourselves” said Farooq Ahmed who lives at Saidpora.
“Seven months is too long to construct drainage on this small stretch” he added.
Sewerage and Drainage Division II of UEED had taken the Road November last year with the timeline of March 2022.
The department missed the deadline with experts saying the stretch is not fit for macadamization.
Executive Engineer Abdul Manan Left River Circular Road (LRCR) said the macadamization on one tube will be taken up once the settlement of the road takes place.
“For the other tube, macadamization will be done in the coming days” he added.
