Srinagar- The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara probing last month’s encounter in Jumagund area of the North Kashmir district, issued a public notice on Friday asking the witnesses to record their statements before June 15.
On May 26, army and police claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jumagund area of Keran Sector by killing three Pakistani militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in a pre-dawn encounter. Army also lost a porter during the exchange of fire with militants.
Sis days after the encounter, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara appointed ADC Ghulam Nabi Bhat as enquiry officer to probe the encounter in which the three militants were killed, an official spokesperson said Friday.
“The ADC has asked general public, who are having any knowledge of the incident and are desirous to share the same with him, can attend his office on working days with effect from 4th to 15th of this month during office hours to get their statement recorded,” he added.
