Srinagar- The Cluster University Srinagar today hosted renowned Qawaal, Jamil Rampuri, and his team for a spellbinding performance at Amar Singh College’s Bukhari Hall.
The program was presided over by Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Qayyum Husain.
Others present on the occasion included Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone; Principal, Amar Singh College, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather; Controller Examinations, Dr. Khurshid A. Mir; Dean Teacher Education and Principal GCW M.A. Road, Dr. Ruhi Jan Kanth; Sports Secretary, Dr. Tariq Ahmad Ashai; Dean Social Sciences, Dr. Mujahid; Dean Humanities & Liberal Arts, Dr. Deeba Sarmad; Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Shabnam Ara, Chief Proctor, Dr. Masood Malik and FA/CAO, Bilal Ahamd Bilal.
Jamil Rampuri is widely regarded as one of the best proponents of Qawaali, a powerful and poetic musical manifestation of the Sufi religious tradition in South Asia.
The soulful ‘qawwali’ performance mesmerized the audience. The artists performed some of the most adored compositions of all time including ‘Chhap Tilak’ and ‘Dama Dam Mast Qalandar’, bringing the place alive and evoking resounding applause from the audience.
Thanking Jamil Rampuri and his team for their heart-warming gesture to perform for students despite a tight schedule, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Qayyum Husain said the Cluster University Srinagar will be hosting more such events in near future and invite artists from across India.
Pertinently, on Vice Chancellor’s instructions, Cluster University Srinagar has constituted various committees and clubs to organize cultural activities in the constituent and affiliated colleges.
It will also explore possibilities of having cultural exchange events involving reputed universities and other institutes of India.
