Srinagar- A television artist was killed and her minor nephew injured on Wednesday after being fired upon by unidentified militants in Chadoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
TV artist Ambreen Bhat and her 10-year-old nephew Farhan was injured when unknown militants appeared outside her home in Hishroo village of Chadoora on Wednesday evening and opened fire upon them, officials said. In the attack, Ambreen and her nephew sustained gunshot injuries.
Both the injured, officials said, were removed to the nearby Chadoora hospital for treatment. However, Ambreen, who had sustained critical gunshot injuries, was referred to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment. She died on way to the SMHS hospital.
“She was brought dead,” Medical Superintendent of SMHS hospital, Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh said.
The minor boy, according to reports, is being treated at the Chadoora hospital and his condition is stated to be stable.
Soon after the attack, government forces cordoned off the area and launched a a manhunt to nab the attackers.
