Srinagar- In an unprecedented move, traffic Police have fined vehicles parked on the roadside in the Hawal locality of downtown Srinagar.
Locals say they were taken by surprise as parking on the roadside is a norm and the locality is mostly residential.
“Traffic police have fined us for parking our vehicles on the roadside, this is a residential area” said Syed Mohsin whose vehicle was fined.
“We can understand that parking on the roadside is against norms but do we have an alternative” Moshin questioned.
Hawal residents say this has never happened before and are puzzled by the question if roadside parking will lead to fines every time they park their vehicles on the roadside.
Speaking to Kashmir Observer SSP Traffic Srinagar Muzaffar Ahmad Shah said that there was nothing unusual about the move.
“We receive complaints from different areas of the city about wrong parking and anyone found violating norms is fined” SSP Srinagar said.
