SRINAGAR- General Secretary, J&K Kisan Tehreek, Ghulam Nabi Malik has demanded immediate relief to the orchardists whose fruit sapling got damaged due to heavy hail storm in various parts of valley including Kulgam, Shopian, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Baramulla , Dara Harwan Srinagar and Anantnag yesterday.
He demanded immediate assessment of losses suffered by the orchardists so that affectees are provided compensation at the earliest.
He questioned over the non-implementation of Crop Insurance Scheme, saying that the farmers and orchardists will heave a sigh of relief during natural calamities if the scheme will be implemented.
Kisan Tehreek has demanded that special compensation be paid to cherry and strawberry growers of Dara Harwan Srinagar as there is 100 % crop damage due to hailstorm
