Seek action against NHAI , Revenue Officials
Budgam- Farmers affected by Srinagar Ring Road in Wathoora Chadoora have alleged that officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and a private company NKC Projects Pvt Ltd assisted by local revenue officials have damaged standing mustard crop in Wathoora and adjoining Batpora in last few days for paving way for the construction of Srinagar Ring Road.
Details reveal that officials of NHAI on Tuesday came to village Batpora Wathora and damaged standing crop of Mustard belonging to Mohammad Ramzan Bhat and Ghulam Hassan Bhat under Khasra No 1195 .
“We were busy breaking fast at Iftar time and the NHAI team along with a private construction company assisted by Revenue Department officials from Chadoora came to our land and damaged the crop by burying it under soil. I have not received even a single penny as compensation and above all my piece of land (2 kanals aprox) has not even been notified for land acquisition for Srinagar Ring Road. This is vandalism and I want inquiry into the incident” said Mohammad Ramzan from Batpora Wathoora
Only a few days back mustard crop of Gulzar Ahmad Akhoon , Mohammad Sultan Akhoon , Jalaudin Bhat , Ghulam Mohammad Dar and others was also allegedly damaged by JCB’s of NKC Pvt Ltd , NHAI and Revenue Department officials assisted by local Naib Tehsildar in Wathoora
“ Mustard crop of farmers who received compensation was damaged in Wathoora , but I fail to understand why our crop was also damaged when we have received not even a single penny. Our case is subjudice . Court gave orders for construction in those areas where payment had been made but the officials of Revenue department misinterpreted the orders and damaged crop of those farmers also who have received not even a single penny” said Gulzar Ahmad Kuchay
Pertinently the NHAI some days back had uprooted apple and plum trees in wathoora area and the farmers allege that they have not received the compensation as per present market value of the trees / crop. All the aggrieved farmers have appealed Chief Justice of J&K High Court to take stern action against the NHAI & Pvt construction company and officials of Revenue Department including Collector land acquisition Budgam for what they called vandalism and criminal trespass
