Srinagar- The sleuths of anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested a Village Level Worker, Rural Development Department (RDD) for demanding and accepting a bribe from a man for processing case under the centrally sponsored PMAY(G) Scheme.
According to an ACB spokesperson, the anti-graft body received a complaint alleging that Sahil Sagar, VLW, Block Paran Pilan, Uri was demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from him for processing his case under PMAY (G) scheme.
The complainant had alleged that Sagar was demanding a bribe of Rs 7000 from him though he had taken Rs 13000 already. On this the complainant approached ACB for taking necessary legal action.
“Upon receiving the instant complaint, prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out. Consequently, case FIR No. 11/2022 was registered at P/S ACB Baramulla and investigation taken up,” the Bureau spokesperson said.
During the course of investigation, he said, a team was constituted that laid a trap and caught the VLC red handed while demanding and accepting bribe from complainant.
“He was arrested on the spot by the ACB team. The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses. Further investigations in the case are going on,” the ACB spokesperson added.
