Srinagar- Taking cognizance of a specific complaint received regarding sale of mutton under unhygienic conditions by a mutton shop owner in Baghi Mehtab, Srinagar, the Department of Food Safety Srinagar inspected the shop on Friday for on spot investigation and challaned the shopkeeper on spot for violating section 56 and 58 of Food Safety Act .
“The mutton shop was found without Food Safety and Standards of India (FSSAI) registration and condition of the equipment and freezers was found unhygienic and mutton stored in non-food grade polyethylene. The mutton shop owner was booked under the section 56 and 58 of Food Safety Act “ reads a statement from the office of Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar
The locals of Bagh e Mehtab have appreciated the role of the Food Safety department especially Assistant Commissioner Hilal Ahmad Mir as they alleged that the mutton shop owner was selling c grade mutton to customers.
” The mutton shop owner at Bagh e Mehtab is selling c grade mutton to the customers and the mutton is kept under unhygienic conditions . We are thankful to Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Hilal Ahmad Mir for acting against the erring mutton shop owner” said Nazir Ahmad Khan a local resident
