SRINAGAR- Kashmir Valley’s ace footballer Danish Farooq Bhat was on Tuesday selected in India’s provisional 38-member senior squad for the upcoming international friendlies in Bahrain. Coach Igor Stimac named Danish in the squad after the withdrawal of two players.
India is set to hold a 10-day camp from March 10 before playing Bahrain and Belarus on March 23 and March 26, respectively.
The Bengaluru FC attacking midfielder’s selection comes on the back of an impressive display in Indian Super League (top tier football league in the country). Danish, playing his maiden ISL season, scored 3 goals and created 2 in 17 appearances to become a mainstay in Bengaluru’s starting XI.
Dowtown-born Danish had an all-round 2022 season with his work rate, and his defensive and offensive contributions enough to impress India coach Stimac. The 25-year-old was also on Monday voted Bengaluru FC Fans’ Player of the Season, surpassing teammates like India star striker Sunil Chhetri.
Danish shared the news on his Instagram handle ‘danishbat09’, and will be delighted with the news.
Jammu & Kashmir Football Association, NIFF, JKSC, among others have congratulated the youth on his continued success.
